BLEED

↓

This newsletter is going out slightly early because I've been working on a project over the last year with some amazing people and we're launching it TODAY! All the incredible work comes together with the launch of BLEED — a coffee table style book full of beautiful illustrations and stories from real people talking about their personal journeys with their menstrual cycles.

From first periods to last periods and beyond 🩸

Why did we create this book?

I've always believed in the power of storytelling. It's part of our DNA.

Last summer, when I had my first panic attack at 45 and when insomnia literally turned on overnight because of changing hormones, it was stories that basically saved my sanity.

I spoke to dozens of women and it was the stories that others shared with me that allowed me to piece together what I needed and find help. It confirmed for me that in a system that wasn't built for us, it's our anecdotal stories that allow us to learn from each other, feel seen and find solutions.

For me, "this book is more than just a series of stories put on paper. It contains the magic that our collective blood, sweat and tears provide. It is the fire from which we emerge." 💛

Want a beautiful coffee table book about period stories that will be a game changer in any room?

Buy it today at our special launch price and help us bring our stories into the light (and maybe even make a book about menstrual cycles a best seller on Menstrual Health Day — today!)

After all, it's how we all got here ;)

Things I Learned

  1. I was blown away by this women's story recently. Never doubt a woman who knows what she wants.

  2. Did you know that today is Menstrual Health Day? Did you also know that 1 in 3 women under the age of 25 in Canada cannot afford period care? It's wild. I was one of those girls growing up. There was just never enough to go around and tampons were expensive (which I needed as a competitive swimmer). The stigma and shame around our cycles prevents people from asking for help even though 30% of the population menstruates. Menstrual Health Day is now a recognized day in BC and federally more and more awareness is starting, which is the first step in driving real change.

In solidarity 🖤

makeher is a labour of love because I believe that women deserve to feel good, build wealth and wellness, and create a life that inspires them. We do this by sharing our stories and challenging the status quo. I'm here for that.

What to expect? I'm the co-founder and CEO of joni, board member at FemTech Canada and mother of two teenage daughters. I send out just one email on the first day of each month about things I've learned, loved and tried through the lens of a 45 year old perimenopausal woman in a world built for men by men. Read prior months here.

If you don't feel this newsletter is for you, that's ok. Just know that I'll miss you.
